PRESS RELEASE
Hyperion Renewables and Repsol Sign 140 GWh/Year Hybrid PPA
• The hybrid PPA combines solar and wind power generation from two projects located in the Évora district.
• Supply will begin in 2028 and will continue for a period of 10 years.
• The agreement secures approximately 140,000 MWh of renewable energy per year for Repsol, a volume that will prevent the emission of more than 23,000 metric tons of CO₂ annually.
Lisbon – June 22, 2026 – Hyperion Renewables and Repsol have signed a renewable energy purchase and sale agreement that combines solar and wind power in a hybrid PPA. The contract reinforces both companies’ commitment to long-term energy solutions capable of supporting the decarbonization of economic activity and accelerating the energy transition.
The energy will be generated from two complementary projects in the Évora district: a solar photovoltaic plant in Estremoz and a wind farm in the municipality of Sousel. The combination of these two technologies contributes to greater stability in the supply of electricity from renewable energy sources.
Supply will begin in 2028 and continue for 10 years. In total, the two assets are expected to deliver approximately 140,000 MWh of renewable energy per year to Repsol, preventing the annual emission of more than 23,000 metric tons of CO₂. To put this in perspective, this volume corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of approximately 40,000 households.
Aytea Alvarez Amandi, CEO of Hyperion Renewables, states: “This agreement marks an important milestone for Hyperion Renewables and for our country. By structuring a PPA that combines solar and wind power generation, we are taking a concrete step toward creating renewable solutions that are more efficient, predictable, and aligned with companies’ decarbonization needs. As Europe accelerates its carbon neutrality goals, we believe that hybrid projects will play an increasingly important role in the energy transition, thanks to their ability to optimize resources, enhance the complementarity of generation, and offer greater stability to consumers.”
With this agreement, Hyperion Renewables reinforces its contribution to the diversification of renewable energy production in Portugal and to the development of innovative contractual models that bring producers and consumers closer together within a framework of competitive, long-term renewable energy.
