MESSAGE FROM THE CEO
20 Years of Hyperion Renewables
In 2026, Hyperion Renewables celebrates its 20th anniversary. It is a milestone we want to celebrate, renewing the spirit of our mission and vision: a sustainable energy transition, with professionalism, responsibility, and a long-term commitment to the environment.
Twenty years ago, Hyperion Renewables was born when investing in renewable energy was neither mainstream nor a global urgency. When many still did not recognise the potential of this sector, Hyperion already believed it would play a decisive role in the future of energy. It was this conviction that sustained the company from day one.
Since then, we have witnessed profound transformations. We have seen the costs of renewable technologies fall drastically, we have followed the evolution of a market initially sustained by support mechanisms towards a reality in which projects increasingly compete on their own economic merits, and we have watched the digitalisation of energy systems and the growing urgency of climate change in public debate. The sector has expanded, the context has become more demanding, and the scale of change has taken on a dimension few anticipated twenty years ago.
Despite the sector’s profound transformations, Hyperion has always maintained a clear ambition: to contribute meaningfully to the development of renewable energy in the markets where it operates – Portugal, Romania, and Spain. With an agile and entrepreneurial approach, we have sought to identify opportunities, anticipate trends, and deliver projects with technical, environmental, and economic rigour. This trajectory has only been possible thanks to the dedication of a team that has kept Hyperion’s entrepreneurial DNA alive as the company grew, and because our company’s values are firmly reflected in our day-to-day actions, in all of our projects. Over these twenty years, we have developed more than 60 projects, across different renewable technologies.
In a sector that continues to evolve at an accelerated pace, digitalisation, artificial intelligence, and the electrification of the economy are profoundly transforming energy demand, creating new needs and opportunities that we are only beginning to grasp. For us, this represents both an increased responsibility and a real opportunity to accelerate what we have always stood by.
However, the challenge lies not only in keeping up with this change, but in ensuring that it happens in a more informed, more responsible, and more lasting way. With active listening and continuous engagement from the very first moment of each project, we want every initiative to be built together and integrated into the territory that hosts it. Therefore, operating with transparency and rigour is not merely an option – it is an obligation. At a time when misinformation is also affecting the energy debate, Hyperion reaffirms its commitment to communicating based on facts, to being transparent with communities, and to refusing shortcuts that would compromise the trust we have spent twenty years building.
These twenty years would not have been possible without the trust of those who backed Hyperion from early on – our investors, including Mirova – our partners, with whom we have built more solid and complete solutions, and, above all, our team. It is the people who, every day, carry forward the values that were at the company’s origin. This continuity is our greatest asset and one of the achievements we are most proud of.
We look to the coming years with the quiet confidence of those who have travelled a demanding path, and the determination of those who know that the most important work still lies ahead.
We want to continue growing with ambition, strengthening a portfolio of projects that is ever more robust, diversified, and qualified, capable of rising to the challenges of the energy transition. This ambition is measured not only by the renewable capacity we install or the assets we develop, but also by how we integrate them into the territories, by the diversity of solutions we mobilise, and by the lasting value we create for investors, partners, communities, and the future of energy in the markets in which we operate.
The energy transition is not an endpoint – it is an ongoing commitment. Twenty years ago, we believed in renewable energy when many still did not recognise its potential. Today, we continue to believe in it as part of the solution. With the same conviction, the same responsibility, and the same willingness to build – project by project – a more sustainable energy future.
